Performing cowgirls were something pioneered by the Miller Brothers and their Wild West Show beginning with what they billed as an “Eye Popping Extravzana” in 1905 to entertain members of the National Editors Association which held its national meeting in Guthrie, Oklahoma. The elaborate show was held at the 101 Ranch located southwest of current day Ponca City and attracted some 65,000 spectators. Before the advent of the term ‘Rodeo’, the event was billed as a ‘“Round-up’ and featured a lady performer, Ms. Lucille Mulhall, as one of the top billed acts.
